What is VAINANA?
VAINANA emerges as a cultural technology, a tool for reprogramming our collective mindset toward regeneration, empathy, and creative resilience.
Founded during Lunna Pigatto’s Master’s studies in Design Strategy at Politecnico di Milano, VAINANA was born from the realization that creativity can be a powerful force for global transformation. As a transdisciplinary art project, it transforms food waste into digital photography and storytelling that challenge our relationship with consumption and the planet.
Blending art, design, and sustainability, VAINANA invites communities to reimagine waste as a source of beauty, dialogue, and regeneration. Through immersive experiences and creative workshops, Lunna uses the power of metaphor to spark climate consciousness and reconnect people with the soulful, often overlooked cycles of decay and renewal.
As an official Climate Shaper for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Lunna embodies VAINANA’s commitment to moving from passive sustainability to active cultural regeneration. Between 2023 and 2024, the project’s artwork was exhibited multiple times in San Diego, raising awareness and inspiring action within the community.
At its core, VAINANA is a call to see creativity not only as self-expression, but as a collective tool to reduce our impact on the planet and transform it into a positive legacy for future generations.
